Easy installation and plug-and-play operation as an optional card. Performance when using a single drive is excellent (the PCIe 1x interface becomes a bottleneck when multiple drives are used simultaneously). There were some compatibility issues trying to make this a bootable device, which I believe is due to my motherboard having Marvel SATA and SAS controllers on board. - The BIOS recognized this card and the drives attached to it normally and I was able to set the expected boot order of the drives. BUT the boot order is ignored unless I choose "manual boot device selection" in the BIOS every time I reboot. Eventually managed to get around this by forcibly disabling booting on all other internal drives. I didn't lower my score for this reason as I believe the issue is with my ASUS motherboard/BIOS rather than this card. The -1 star means that when I boot from a drive attached to that controller, it shows up in Windows 10 as an HDD and not an SSD (hence TRIM isn't available). I have a multi-OS/boot system and the weird thing is when I boot Windows 10 from a drive that is not connected to this controller, then the drive on this controller shows that the SSD and TRIM are working! (Both identical builds of Windows 10).
