The cord thread runs under the charge port cover, although this appears to compromise the integrity of the waterproofing. It doesn't seem like the best option either, as it could actually rip off the silicone cover on any impact, causing the device to eject. The main unit lid itself seems a bit loose and I couldn't attach the screen protector without leaving air pockets underneath. The lid seems to offer some protection, apart from being a bit disappointing.
