Update: I have had this kit on my 2003 4Runner with steering wheel controls and factory JBL system for almost three years. For the most part it worked fine. However, there will be occasional moments when the audio in the car will shift, like the speakers being turned off and then on again. Today I turned the music off and after about 5 minutes the volume itself increased almost to full volume. Sometimes the controls on the steering wheel stop working and then the sound turns on by itself. Now it crashes more often. I just ordered a new kit as I haven't found a better replacement yet. I now give 3 out of 5 stars. I'm glad I don't have to go through the wiring a second time. I'm only giving the product 4 stars out of 5 because the instructions weren't 100 percent straight forward. I make my living in industrial electronics, so I was able to find out for myself. I don't recommend installing it yourself if you are a beginner.
