Disturbing noise

I always find Anker products to be of high quality. That's why I chose this product over cheaper similar Bluetooth products. I wanted this to be specific to my new range of electronic earmuffs, the Howard Leight Impact Sport. It features a 3.5mm audio input designed for older devices with a 3.5mm output. So I figured the Anker SoundSync A3352 would be the perfect upgrade. Initially, I had many problems connecting my iPhone 6 Plus to the A3352 via Bluetooth. I had to keep turning it off and on again to try to get it to work. Finally it happened. As soon as I connected the A3352 to the audio input of the headphones, I immediately noticed a hum. So maybe I had to adjust the volume, I thought. The louder I turned it on, the louder the noise. I tried wiggling both ends of the 3.5mm connector. no significant improvement in noise. My music played quite well, albeit with some background hum. Given that I received a premium product from Anker, I felt this was unacceptable. I haven't gone far enough to test phone call reception, but I don't think a mic will work well on phone calls at an active shooting range anyway. There were problems with the initial Bluetooth connection and there was noise even when playing music. I paid for a premium product. Not good!
