This is a replacement for the drive I originally bought, which I like for its compatibility with multiple connection technologies. When not being used as intended (a Time Machine backup), the first drive would often make a continuous noise and its light would blink as if in use. It sounded like the anchor was constantly searching. As a result, the first disk failed. Unfortunately, the removable drive does the same thing from time to time. So when I'm not making a Time Machine backup, I now unplug the drive from the computer and unplug it often. I hope this precaution increases the likelihood that I have a reliable way to transfer data when I move to a new computer. It would be nice if the seller replied.
