Nice replacement for bamboo skewers, not wide enough for general doner use

Really 3.5 stars. If you're used to using bamboo skewers and like to grill small, relatively durable items, you'll probably enjoy them. Skewers are thin and light, with the right proportions and a sharp point. The metal shines with small flaws, the usual magnet hardly holds. Will not rust in salty conditions. Really looks like high quality stainless steel. They are approximately 35cm long, rectangular in cross-section, 5mm wide, 1.75mm thick and weigh 24g each. (See photos, they're slightly longer, wider, and thinner than bamboo skewers.) Each skewer can hold three large baked potatoes if needed, so I don't think they'll ever break without mishandling. The metal storage tube looks like a child labor product but is functional and offers safe and compact storage. The skewers go perfectly with my trusty Lodge Sportsman Grill which is why I bought them. In general, the skewers are very easy to maintain. But if you like Persian or Brazilian skewers, which are typically two feet long, come in a variety of widths, and look more like swords (actually a little impractical at Lodge Sportsman due to the length), you might continue to feel those nagging disappointments. The skewers tested just aren't wide enough for general use. Larger tender cuts of meat (e.g. chicken thighs, salmon, duck) twist around the skewers and are difficult or impossible to turn. I think this could have been avoided by making the skewers a bit wider (about 8-10mm instead of 5mm). One way to get around this is to double them up and use two. For this reason I ordered the Broil King 64045 double spike, which is not as sharp with the same length and 74g weight and requires a fairly large minimum meat cube size. I'm still hoping to find more solid single short skewers (like 'Wider Thicker' as I was promised in the item's description) but haven't found one yet. Pictures from left to right: 1) This skewer (rotated) next to the small bamboo skewer next to Broil King 2) In this picture the onions and duck hearts could be turned but not the liver 3) After adding the second skewer through the liver, they could be turned around. 4) The salmon wasn't ideal either.
