Pros: Wide field of view; good pupillary distance; sharpness throughout the image is above average; relatively close focus; declared water resistance; Tripod mount (hidden under the screwed Athlon logo on the front of the hinge); good resolution - honestly no better than a pair of 40 year old compact 8x Nikons I've compared them to. but these Nikons were known for their sharpness, and the Athlons outperform the Nikons in terms of field of view, low-light performance and eye relief, so in most cases they aren't comparable. But let me just say that they are spicy, but not out of this world. Cons: To adjust the eye relief, rotate the eyecup housings. The eyepiece lens caps are made of rubber and fit snugly into the eyecup housings. On the first use or two, when removing the eyepiece lens caps, the outer layer of the eyecup housings (which appears to be glued in place) came loose along with the lens caps. Lens caps are also a little clunky. They hang from the front of the lens barrel with rubber bands and fit inside the lens barrel. But in the field, they often fall out, and sometimes the ligaments come off completely, making them easy to lose. Finally, my binoculars arrived with a few visible imperfections/motes on the internal parts. In practice, this doesn't affect usage, but I'd rather not see anything.
