Not the best temperature sensor for a thermostat - not sensitive enough

Internally, this device is only sensitive to 1 degree Celsius and internally only reports 1 degree Celsius intervals. For example, it will show 66.2°F, then 68°F, then 69.8°F, then 71.6°F, and so on—nothing between these Fahrenheit values. This is fine for a low or high temperature alarm, but not enough for the thermostat to work, which also accounts for a 1 degree difference. So let's say you set the thermostat to 70 (you are in heating mode) and there is a 1 degree difference - the heating won't turn on until the unit reports 68 degrees or less and won't turn off, until it reports 71.6 - 3. 6. Delta degrees between on and off. Your typical home thermostat is 1 degree closer to the delta. So many people (me, at least) find it too cold before turning on and too warm after turning off - especially since I'm using this to regulate a gas fireplace that heats up within 5 minutes of the flame going out. But for my life I can't find anything better - if you know something please let me know - Z-Wave or Zigbee is fine - I use a VeraPlus controller. However, the motion sensor seems to work pretty well, although I didn't buy the device for it.

Pros
  • Motion Detection: This device uses a PIR sensor and will emit a Z-Wave Plus signal when motion is detected within its detection range.
Cons
  • Some errors
