Works very well for its main purpose but not so well for temperature

I installed this on a ledge above the walkway to my front door and it sets a scene in Vera off When the sun goes down after sunset, turn on the front door lamp and the lights in the house. Corner setting and sensitivity spot on, it works exactly as intended to illuminate the front door and house as you approach. After the initial installation, I "discovered" its temperature capability and added a capture to the database to represent the temperature. Two things became apparent: 1) it stops at…

Pros
  • Temperature Sensor: This sensor detects temperature changes and reports the temperature to the network once a significant change occurs. Z-Wave Plus: Z-Wave Plus devices act as signal boosters for the Z-Wave Plus network
Cons
  • A newer model could have been chosen

Works well overall but with some inconveniences

Motion detection lags a bit. Typically, my SmartThings Hub "sees" movement 3-5 seconds before I see the red light flashing. So it's a bit annoying when I'm trying to turn on the light in my dark garage so I can stand there in the dark for 5 seconds. The battery indicator really jumps. On both I've seen it go from 100% to 90% to 80% to 90% to 70% and so on. All of this happens in about a month. It can get a little chilly in a garage in the Midwest. I've noticed that around 23 degrees it will err

Pros
  • Easy to Install: This sensor comes with everything you need to install it on an existing Z-Wave Plus network including mounting screws, tape and a battery.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Not the best temperature sensor for a thermostat - not sensitive enough

Internally, this device is only sensitive to 1 degree Celsius and internally only reports 1 degree Celsius intervals. For example, it will show 66.2°F, then 68°F, then 69.8°F, then 71.6°F, and so on—nothing between these Fahrenheit values. This is fine for a low or high temperature alarm, but not enough for the thermostat to work, which also accounts for a 1 degree difference. So let's say you set the thermostat to 70 (you are in heating mode) and there is a 1 degree difference - the heating…

Pros
  • Motion Detection: This device uses a PIR sensor and will emit a Z-Wave Plus signal when motion is detected within its detection range.
Cons
  • Some errors
