I have a T5 and decided to give it a try as it is said to be faster. So I ordered a 2TB non-fingerprint model in red. The first thing I noticed is that this drive is slow to turn on. It takes about 30 seconds from the time Windows 10 recognizes the connector to the time you can actually use the drive. The drive also sometimes goes offline. But for me, the problem is that it doesn't offer the rated 1000MB/s read or write speeds. In fact, I can't get a read speed of 700MB/s when testing on multiple systems and cables. The font seems a little bigger, but not by much. I ran tests using Crystal Disk Mark and also copied large (30GB) files. The old T5, rated at 540MB/s, consistently delivers read speeds in the 600MB/s range, while write speeds are identical to the newer T7. Given the price, physical size, performance, and other concerns, I'm sticking with the T5. Both have a maximum capacity of 2TB, and there's really no reason to pay extra for a bulkier drive that doesn't offer a noticeable speed boost.
