Review on πŸ”’ Advanced Optex LX-402 Weatherproof Outdoor Passive Infrared Motion Detector: Reliable Security Solution by Anferny Pineda

LX-402 Slight disappointment in specs for Optex

Not designed for Optex alarm systems. I am an experienced alarm installer. Also, it has no temperature compensation and is a single PIRO element, which is another surprise. And the $140 Optex HX-40 has those features. Update: The device has been used in harsh outdoor conditions for 10 days without distortion. You need to completely seal the wire holes with glue, black foam will not work, a sugar ant inside will be repeatedly faked. I set Pet Lane, Low Sensitivity, Heart Rate 2, and Tilt Down because I only need a maximum of 20ft (sidewalk) and 40ft width. Avoid direct sunlight, plastic blocks don't hold up according to Optex, if it cost $40-50 it would be 5 stars. Surprising lack of two PIROs and time compensation but it works 100% with good coverage and no distortions, using 24/7 as an alarm should be perfect so far.

Pros
  • Hands free
Cons
  • Very expensive
