I found that the Asus RT-AC1200 was causing problems on my Ethernet network when it was configured to be used as an access point (AP). I set up a recurring 1 second ping test to constantly monitor my network's connection to the internet. Ping packets were sometimes dropped when the RT-AC1200 was connected to my Ethernet network. At some point a packet loss interrupts my VPN connection on my work laptop. I bought 2 new RT-AC1200. I had the same problem with both devices when used as hotspots. I am returning both devices. Now I have connected TP-Link AC1750 to my Ethernet network as an access point. I haven't seen any network issues with the TP-Link AC1750.
