So this particular "long" arm is aluminum and the balls at each end are rubberized. The system is fantastic! The design is great/simple! My only problem may be in my application and not in the system. I live in Arizona and my speed can be insane. The large arm length combined with the weight of my Nuvicam caused my arm to sag and the GPS I was trying to hold landed on the dashboard for the first few minutes of use. I stayed within the arm weight limits. or so I think without accurately weighing the GPS unit. Yes; I twisted the handle very tight to more firmly attach the lever to the two rubber balls (size?). A very well built block. Just think about the weight of your device and the softness of the rubber when exposed to high heat like in my app. Most likely, everything is fine in other applications. So this is more of an observation and a hint to carefully consider your application.
