Review on πŸ“· Crisp and Versatile: Canon EF 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6L IS USM Lens Revealed by MoonSe Hoon ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not exactly the product I wanted, price and quality don't match.

I have been using it for over four years. A significant drawback is that when moving apart, it pumps air into / out of the chamber, the matrix has to be cleaned more often. Some complain about insufficient aperture, so this lens has "working" f / 8-13. They will not be able to shoot at dusk, for him only good sunny weather, or a tripod. Comfortable for travel, albeit bulky. Versatility and in addition an insignificant loss of quality, but not so critical as to say that this lens is much worse than some other. The only negative is the sliding part-pump. I would write down the weight of the lens in its merits, it actually provides additional stabilization when shooting handheld, but of course you need to get used to wearing it.

Pros
  • The range of focal lengths. Medium telephoto lens, suitable for most shooting situations. Moderate dust and moisture protection
Cons
  • The sliding lens design makes this lens a real dust blower. Over time, my seal fell apart (a narrow strip of microns thick made of some kind of technologically advanced non-woven material) on the retaining ring and the moving part ceased to be fixed, I had to give it to the service for a replacement. In terms of image sharpness and aperture, it does not significantly lose to lenses with a fixed focal length, but in order to achieve a good picture, you will have to practice with the settings. Vignetting is noticeable at long focus, however, it is easily removed by image processing programs. Chromatic aberrations at a short focus are much less than wide-angle EF 16-35, for example.
