These lighted birds were a pleasant surprise. I had never used them before and was expecting something cheap and disappointing where the light would not be effective and the bird's weight and balance would fail. I didn't think it would be possible to play in the dark even with the backlight on. But these are great pro level birds and the backlighting is great for playing in the dark or in low light! I'm used to cheap plastic birds that we use until they fall apart so these were the best I've played with lately. The only downside is that 'real' feathered birds like these aren't as durable as plastic in my experience so they may not last as long. but then the battery doesn't last forever either, so that doesn't bother me. The light shines brightly behind the bird so it glows softly as it flies towards you and then you get a cool "flare" effect. after hitting him while he's flying away from you.
