Real pen. Very durable. My daughter likes to play badminton. You know how the little bird camouflages against the background and is very difficult to see until it flies right in your eyes. It's not a glowing pen, it's an LED in the middle. We turned it on while it was still light. And it turned out great. When it got dark, we didn't feel uncomfortable. Very good product. Costs money. I would recommend it to my friends. This is actually a good gift for a little kid.

Some shuttlecocks would blink while others would glow with a steady light, but this never interfered with play. Honestly, this shuttlecock isn't the most durable. If you're an experienced player, you'll probably wear this out in a game. To be honest the edges almost disappeared after a full game. I had never used them before and was expecting something cheap and disappointing where the light would not be effective and the bird's weight and balance would fail.
