Review on πŸ”§ Bora Portamate PM-3500: The Ultimate Industrial Strength Universal Rolling Mobile Base to Effortlessly Move Your Heaviest Power Tools by Andrew Holman

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Exceptionally strong and durable

Availability I needed a strong, durable and stable mobile base for my Nova drill. I was looking for something that could move easily but still support its 260 pounds and stay strong during use; which is a challenge considering it's 1.80m tall and has a high center of gravity. This base meets all these requirements. The yellow levers easily lift the weight of the drill off the ground with a foot-operated cam action. An important caveat is the minimum dimensions, which are listed as 18.25 x 23.5. Each dimension is possible, but not both at the same time. This is because guides must occupy the same space within the corner members as their orthogonal counterparts. So to achieve these dimensions I had to cut an inch off each end of the front and back rails; see fig. The rest of the assembly was fairly easy, all threads were well cut and not contaminated with powder coating like a lot of people do. up to the stated limit of Β£1,500. The poor packaging quality mentioned in other reviews is entirely true; The packaging consists of wrapping the parts in very thin bubble wrap and placing them in a cardboard box. Luckily mine arrived with no cosmetic damage, but just by luck of course.

Pros
  • OPTIONAL ADDITIONS: The Bora PM-3036 Extension Rail Kit (sold separately) includes two 36" extension rails that allow you to increase the size of your PM-3500 to accommodate very large tools.
