Works great only with HDMI Roku on SD TV

I bought this unit to connect a new HDMI only Roku device to my old standard definition CRT TV. Short review. Works as it should. I would recommend this product. A closer look: This converter kit includes everything you need to connect an HDMI video source to a device that only has a composite AV (Red/White/Yellow) cable input. In the box you get: - A converter box - A power adapter with a micro USB cable to power the converter - An HDMI cable to connect your source to the converter - RCA cable to connect the converter to your TV/VCR etc. Some of the available HDMI converters not working yet connected. You need to charge them first and then unplug them. This device can remain connected and will work. This is a big plus for me as I don't want to think about charging the converter etc. The device itself seems pretty cheap. The plastic isn't very strong, but that doesn't matter since it doesn't knock much. There is a switch for NTSC/PAL on the side. I had no problems with the switch causing the signal to drop out as some others have said, what happens to other brands. Image quality is ok. Can't expect much as it's hooked up to a standard definition TV. It looks just as good as if you plugged a regular cable into a standard definition TV. My Roku only outputs in 1080p or 720p and the device has no problem displaying 720p on a 480i TV. It may look slightly squashed as the 720 signal is a 16:9 widescreen format while the SD TV signal is 4:3. In general I am very satisfied and recommend this device cheaper. Pros
  • Use Roku Media Player and Roku Streaming Stick with older TVs. Converts Roku's HDMI signal to Standard Definition over Composite (Red/White/Yellow) signal. For use with TVs with Red/White/Yellow inputs but no HDMI.
Cons
  • Big and chunky
