Larger than expected

When I first received this device, right away I realized it was much larger than expected. But I did give it a try in my set up and used it for a period of time, before deciding it won't suit my needs. If you're considering this device, check the dimensions carefully so you know what to expect. In use, I found the track ball to be very responsive. It was quite easy to navigate the screen and required very little movement with, just the finger tips, to navigate the ball. The scroll wheel placement is quite inconvenient. However once you get the device placed where it's confortable for you hand, you can easily move the track ball with your middle finger and use the scroll wheel with your pointer, without even thinking about it. The scroll wheel has a nice texture and is easy to scroll, clicky, and quite responsive. You can also click with the scroll wheel, which is also quite convenient. In addition, the buttons worked really well. They were sensitive enough you didn't need to push them hard, yet not so sensitive you accidently clicked things. They also make a nice clicky sound and are comfortably placed, relative the the arrangement of the ball and wheel.Besides the size, the only negatives I noticed were the fact that it feels really hollow and cheap. I don't need or want it to feel heavy, however, for it's size I would have expected something more substantial, or it could have been thinner. In addition, there is not secure place to store the wireless dongle on the device. There is a place you can put it, but it's not secure and it protrudes from the bottom causing it not to lay flat on a hard surface. It was actually pretty nice to use, once I found the right placement for reaching all parts comfortably. But in the end, the size was a real deterant and the main reason for returning. Without the gel pad attachment, it's reasonably sized. But I I didn't like using it without the pad and, either way, it was quite thick, chuncky and just not what I expected. But if the size isn't an issue for you, this was a well functioning device and I would recommend it.just not for me.
