We were planning to take three bikes on vacation (900 miles round trip). I've read all the reviews of all three bike racks on Revain and elsewhere. It seemed like the best choice for my Passat station wagon. Set up 20-25 minutes a day before driving. It took so long because I carefully rolled up the excess strap (it's quite adjustable) and attached it to the working part of the strap with velcro. It took a little longer but it makes it easier to use on another car if needed. I checked it out a few times on the way down and it was as tight as can be. I also assembled the bike's wheels and had to loosen the stem and rotate the handlebars on my bike and remove the seat post and saddle on the kids' bike to allow the three bikes to coexist. Less than a minute after we arrived, all the bikes were ready to ride. Never have I ever been nervous about a suitcase. It is difficult. Our bikes aren't very expensive, but they're not department store bikes and I wouldn't even think of rolling the dice if they were to fall off the back of a car at highway speeds.
