I read all the reviews before buying this item. Some of them were negative, specifically stating that the product was noisy. However, I chose this one because of the 30-day return policy. The installation was plug and play with no problems. I didn't install the bundled software because Nero had conflicts with other software on my computer in the past. This product worked flawlessly with the software I already use. You may hear noises when the product is in use. This sound is a running fan. It's not loud enough to be a problem. The fact that the fan cools the product when it's burning hard outweighs the small amount of noise you hear. This product has a switch on the back. You only need to turn it on when you use it. So the rest of the time it's quiet. I have used several brands of burners over the years. I like this one more than anything I've had.
