Lots of features, lots of games

This little portable gaming system packs a lot into a small package. In addition to the built-in games, the system comes with a micro SD card as a "gift" that adds a lot of emulators and makes this system really powerful. Another thing that makes it useful as a gaming system is an external controller and a mini HDMI output that lets you connect it to a TV or computer monitor. The cable is not included but is easy to find online. A standard composite RCA cable is included, but the quality is much lower. Might look ok for retro games. The device itself is comfortable to hold, but the overall quality of the plastic isn't as good as Japanese handheld consoles. They added some odd features like a gold analog clock on the front and a compass on the back. It's good to play in the forest and get lost I think. The controls are simple but well suited for retro games. Standard D-Pad on the left and 4 buttons on the right plus select and launch buttons. No shoulder buttons or triggers, and all buttons appear to be digital (on/off). The screen looks quite good, which reveals the poor graphics of some older games. There is a wide variety of games from almost every genre, and some of the arcade fighting games look the best. I had a blast playing some of my old favorites from Game Gear and GB, as well as many others I had forgotten. Playing it on a TV with an external controller works pretty well, which is nice if you prefer a bigger screen. The external controller takes the form of an NES controller, but features SNES buttons similar to those on the device itself. The main unit has a built-in speaker that sounds good and can get pretty loud. There is an analog volume wheel to easily adjust the volume. All in all a pretty nice system. I wish they would spend more money on plastic and less on gimmicks like the clock and compass, but overall I'm very happy with this system. It's quite powerful and contains far more high-quality games than any of those "100,000 games in one" systems I've tried before. The battery lasts a long time, a regular micro USB cable is used for charging.
