I installed a lock correctly the first time. The other lock I believe shifted the numbers while I "turned back" the knob after setting the lock. I was stuck with a lock that was in the closed position and I didn't know the combination. Another post said you could "feel" the numbers, so with a little fumbling I was able to unlock the lock again. So when setting the numbers, maybe hold the numbers with your thumb while turning it back so they don't move. The lock on the roof of my car that secures the kayak works perfectly. Got caught in the rain a few times. Seems to be working fine.
