Good for the price of video projectors

Not as bright as I expected. My old 15 year old projector is MUCH brighter (true halogen), no comparison. 7200 lumens is too much. I only wanted HDMI 16:9 format. Picky about focus. Use a test template from the Internet. Use manual center focus along with manual tilt focus. Switch back and forth between oblique and center focus until everything is sharp at the edges. Contrast is low, probably due to cheaper lenses/coatings. However, up close you can make out pixels, albeit vaguely. There is no real optical zoom. (Digital) zoom out reduces size digitally by up to 75%, not optical-mechanically. Avoid using it if possible as it will effectively reduce your brightness. The image size is adjusted by the distance from the screen. I wouldn't go over 100 inches as the image will be dark. The 350 inches described would be a joke, too dark. In any case, you need a darkened room and a good (highly reflective) screen. I regret buying the 120 inch screen, it's too big. 80 inches would be better. 4D Keystone is also performed digitally instead of opto-mechanically. So, aspect ratio distortion occurs when too much keystone is used. In general, the best performance should be seen directly on the screen. Long-throw design is visually better, but stupid consumers demand short-throw for small spaces and big screens. A little disappointed, but I probably expected too much from a $200 1920x1080 projector. Best performance for less than $350 with optical zoom and optical keystone distortion. I won't be using Bluetooth as 80% of the cinema experience is audio so there should be a separate audio system for that. Too bad the money spent on the sound wasn't spent on better picture quality. Too much focus on smartphone connectivity (generally unreliable) and other technologies. Designers (consumers) need to get back to basics, not superficial crap! Too much form these days, not function.

Pros
  • I hold my fists
Cons
  • Makes me angry
