I installed this on a boat to remove water from the fuel and when the booster pump was turned on it ran into the filter canister. I figured it might just need a bit of depressing, but I checked before installing it and it was tight. Well, it turned out to be tight because the threads grabbed where the canister attaches to the cast. I suspect this is due to the canister screwing onto a threaded bushing molded onto the mount. It is likely that the aluminum threads will get stuck in the upper threaded portion of the filter. I broke the strap wrench trying to remove the filter. I ended up putting the old filter back in. Not happy with the fuel in the hold. Luckily when I checked that the boat was still in the driveway I started the engine and noticed a leak while inspecting the filter installation.
