When I first tried it I thought the test probe surface area was WAY small. You can remove the plastic protective cover from the "test" end of both probes, but this will take some effort. This exposes much more of the test probe's metal surface, making it much more comfortable to use. However, it is not clear that the plastic protective covers are removable and it is not mentioned in the small folding instructions that come with the product. I couldn't get the "NCV" feature to tell me anything, but since I didn't even know it existed on the device, I still give it 5 stars!
