Multimeter Auto Ranging Multimeters Electrical Resistance Review

I bought this multimeter to test if the water heater thermocouple is working. My water heater's pilot light would not stay on. It is very likely that the thermocouple has failed. But I had to be sure. So I used this voltage tester. When I lit the pilot and held it down I checked the thermocouple voltage and it showed 1mV which was not good. When I first tried it I thought the test probe surface area was WAY small. You can remove the plastic protective cover from the "test" end of both probes, but this will take some effort. This exposes much more of the test probe's metal surface, making it much more comfortable to use. However, it is not clear that the plastic protective covers are removable and it is not mentioned in the small folding instructions that come with the product. These cheap little Chinese tools are a great, cheap but decent quality alternative to overpriced Fluke test tools. Their accuracy exceeds published specifications for most functions and they work as described in the listings.
