This device does not allow data transfer. That's exactly what I wanted. I am very impressed with the construction of this product. I think some reviewers are confused as this is just a charging adapter. You cannot play music on another device while connected to this device, and if you were, no data would be blocked. This blocks data, not power, from the source. Best use is to connect to a work computer, an airport USB port, or another USB plug-in that you don't own. If you use a charger, you do not need this adapter.
