W212 e350 best cheap mod

I'm a DIY enthusiast and love to fix my own cars. For this job I bought a Campbell Hausfeld DC cored wire welder. Even though my welds look ugly, they do the job. Works great on my 2011 Mercedes E350. Installs it with 304 2.25 stainless steel tubing. Surprisingly this reduced the drone I had. I have mufflers Magnalow 14840. Before installing the X-pipe, the exhaust sounded bad with a kind of hum between 3000-3500 rpm. However, from 4000 rpm it sounded almost regular. There's almost no hum with the X-Pipe, and it's a lot louder past 4000 rpm. Went from Florida to New York with a new setup and I have to say my ear still hurts after 18 hours of non-stop riding. real stainless steel. However, this is cheap 409 steel that has some rust and fails the "Magnet Test". Most importantly, if you're looking to buy this X-Pipe instead of the overpriced Magnaflow, be prepared to do some Dremel sanding or sanding. stones inserted in the drill. Otherwise, severe turbulence is to be expected. Look at the photos. Overall, while I'm not impressed with this X-Pipe, it's definitely better than buying Magnaflow. Here's why (I've had both): 1) both are machined from 409 stainless steel 2) both are cheaply stamped and will cause turbulence no matter what you do 3) both need to be sanded and cleaned prior to installation for best results 4) both sound good. All in all, installing an X-Pipe is the best mod you can do to change the sound of your car on a budget. While there are cheaper X-Pipes out there, they are mild steel and I would stay away from them.

Pros
  • good stuff
Cons
  • mostly ok but...
