To put it slightly imprecisely. When marking the fence posts, he paid particular attention to walking slowly. He continued to deviate a few inches with each post. For a span of nearly eight feet, he gave incorrect measurements, noting only nine eight-foot posts in the center on level ground. I had to give it up and go back to good old roulette.
