Revainrating 4 out of 5

Overall satisfied

It is interesting that there are so many variants of this Chinese RAV4 Android multimedia system. I went with one of the more expensive versions mainly because it comes with 8.1 Oreo unlike some previous iterations of Android. Radio is definitely essential. It comes well packaged with a range of accessories and instructions in English. In particular, it includes a few extra cables (looks like you're going to connect it to amplifiers or a secondary video out and another video in in addition to the rear camera. I ordered a rear camera that looks more like an OEM (https://www. amazon.com /gp/product/B07D92V2LM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) with license plate holder Actually I just wanted a system that would let me stream bluetooth from my phone with a screen for a rear camera. This receiver has both Meets requirements really well. I have to say I was a bit disappointed that there were only 2 screw holes in the bracket, not 4 like the factory radio, but 2 screws seems to suffice..a bit disappointed The curvature at the top of the radio bezel is offset slightly. Now that it's all together none of these things really affect the performance of the radio. If I just want a radio with no reverse ca mera, that would make Rosha an incredibly simple sentence. The wiring harness supplied with the radio plugs directly into the factory wiring harness. Be very careful when removing trim pieces near the factory radio. I broke one. It's a 2006 RAV4 and the plastic is really brittle, although I was careful, one side broke when I took it off. Installing a reversing camera isn't that bad. I wish the included video cable was a foot or two longer. I ended up having to compromise my routing near the end to make it available. The user interface is really user-friendly. As it should be, this is Android Oreo. So if you are an Android user, this is really intuitive. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work great, although I will note that Wi-Fi is limited to 2G. The radio does not see my 5G channel. The sound is much better than the stock radio, even with the original speakers. The touch screen is fine. There's not a lot of onboard storage on board, which isn't surprising, but it's limiting. I haven't tried adding an SD card, but I may need to do so to host our library of favorite podcasts. Loading times are also a bit disappointing. I timed it and it took 40 seconds from turning on the ignition to connecting the bluetooth. I also wish USB was USB C, the modern standard, not USB 1.0. Very 2005. In general I am satisfied with the radio. This is an exponential improvement over the factory radio while still looking like a factory radio. Sound clarity and volume are good. I really like the functionality of Android. It's great to be able to open apps and customize the system to my preferences. And the last remark. When you install the radio, ground the wire marked "brake" otherwise, as far as I can tell, the radio won't let you do anything because it thinks you're driving. Of course, if you ground it, you can always use the radio when it's on. Please do not try to do complicated things with the radio while driving. Let's see how it holds up. If there are any problems, I will update my review.
