I bought this device for expanding connection choices for the latest Macbook Air since this comes with only two USB-C ports. This USB-C Hub Adapter provides ability to connect USB 3.0 (three of them) and HDMI (one of them) devices to the MacBook. It connects to only one of the USB-C ports so I can use the other port for further expansion devices, if needed (there are some adapters that need both USB-C ports to work). The adapter worked with my Mac right out of the box - I simply plugged it in and connected my thumb drive to it and the Mac sensed the thumb drive. This adapter is lightweight so I leave it connected to my Mac even when I carry it around. The only thing about this adapter that I am unlikely to use is the SD card reader that is built into it. However, for the price paid the value returned is good, I think.
