Spend $6 on a lock, get a lock good enough to protect your goods for $6

Master locks are commonly considered props of "security theater" since they can withstand more physical blows than most other locks from other companies, but the moment you pick up picking tools, they fall apart. Because of their size and price, they actually have trouble picking locks due to their MUCH higher manufacturing tolerances. although something so small and at this price point really doesn't pose much of a hindrance to a determined troublemaker. I bought it as a "beginner" lockpicker. and on the same day that I held my master key in my hands for the first time, I already cracked this thing in less than a minute. Any inexperienced street speaker can pick this lock in under a minute if it takes a little effort and skill. The pins they use in this lock are a cheap "lite" version of what you'll find in something from other companies. This is an excellent teaching tool, but useless as a safety device. If you need something to protect your locker/door, it won't stick out like a thumb. Be prepared to spend more. For just over $30 you can get the Abus 88/40 Plus. It has a high quality disc holding core (requires special tools to grip), hardened steel body and cannot be milled. With this lock, the lock is probably the strongest part of what secures what you have locked.

  • Good product for its price
