Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Hayden Automotive 5969 Idler and Belt Tensioner Pulley: Superior Performance for Optimal Belt Control by Tory Richardson

Works great, but there was a small problem installing it!

This pulley works great and solved my problem with an old 15 YO 130K mile pulley suddenly making a real rumble! However if you are installing it on a 2001 Nissan 3.3L V6 (between the power steering pump and the water pump) you may need to add a washer between the adjuster bracket and the bushing which is usually installed first. My old idler pulley was a 1mm larger (in diameter) steel wheel in a semi-circular shape that fitted slightly differently. After the washer was added, I had the appropriate clearance. Before installing the washer on the main bolt, I stripped 1/2 1mm from the inside of my new idler pulley because there was no gap and I didn't see or hear any problems on the first run. Then upon inspection I saw a slight trace of wear and immediately knew I was too close. The problem was easily solved, but be careful, this is a universal part. Now it works perfectly, with a new belt it's completely silent!

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No automatic
