Excellent replacement - see description for installation tips.

They are perfect for replacing 13 year old originals in a 2005 Dodge Caravan. You must use the original washer and lock washer as they do not come with these parts. A small issue when climbing onto the hatch as the lift legs are fully extended and not compressed. Installation instructions are not included with the parts. And no, it's not as easy as removing/replacing. You will first need the correct 6-point torx wrench to remove and swap out parts. Once it was in hand I found that the original screws had thread lock and would not move if hand tightened. I stuck a screwdriver into the T-handle and slipped a length of thick PVC pipe over the T-handle to act as a breaker. Before removing the lift bracket, install a long board or other support to hold the sunroof open. If one of the elevator legs was removed, the other leg could not hold the door or even slow it down. To replace, first tighten the screw that fits into the van body at the top of the hatch opening. Then loosen, but do not remove, the screws on the sunroof hinge on that side. This will allow you to open the hatch a little higher so that the second bolt fits in the hole in the door. Do the same with the other side and you're done. These jacks now "open" my hatch - once you start opening the hatch, push it quickly and hold it open. However, it now requires more force to close the hatch, but that's a compromise. I would go with a sunroof that doesn't stay open in cold weather.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • The list is getting long.
