Review on ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Zacro LCD Digital Aquarium Thermometer: Accurate Fish Tank & Terrarium Water Temperature Monitoring by Sharonda Guzman

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Readings dropped 10 degrees after 2.5 years of use.

This thermometer has been working in my tank for about 2.5 years. I used this as a supplement to my thermostat to ensure the thermostat was getting accurate readings. They always differed by a few degrees, but there was nothing wrong with that. Recently my thermostat failed and I bought a new unit. When setting up, I noticed that the readings of the new block and the Zacro block differ by about 10 degrees (see fig.). Both probes were a few inches apart inside the tank and I also removed the probes, cleaned and tested outside of the tank with the same result. Finally, I brought a third good quality food thermometer and verified that the Zacro wasn't working and the other two were accurate. I'm not sure, maybe battery life has something to do with it, but there's no low battery indicator so the readings look accurate when they don't, if that's the cause. Since 10 degrees can bring down your aquarium and potentially kill your fish, I would caution you not to trust this thermometer. UPDATE: I replaced the battery in this unit and the temperature is still significantly different by the same amount.
