Review on πŸ“· 7artisans 25mm F1.8 APS-C Manual Focus Fixed Lens for Fujifilm X-Series Cameras - Black by Ashley Johnson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A very inexpensive way to try a manual focus prime lens

UPDATED. After using this lens for 6 months I noticed that the center corner sharpness is excellent (even better than Fuji 23mm lenses) and the bokeh at f/1.8 is excellent (softer bokeh than that Fuji 23mm Prime at the same time). aperture), corner sharpness is very poor. For this reason I am changing my rating to 4 stars. But that doesn't make the lens unusable - this lens even succeeds in exceptionally artistic shots at f/1.8. And the lens has a wonderful vintage look and character due to its flaws. And it's dirty cheap to buy. However, in my opinion it is not a suitable alternative to the excellent Fuji 23mm lenses due to the very poor edge sharpness as a general purpose lens. I really enjoy using this lens, it's full of character and produces organic images. I recently switched from Nikon to Fuji. Missing the Nikkor correction but having no money after buying Fuji, I started reading about the 7 Artisans lens. I grew up with film photography and fully manual SLRs, and I love manual focus as it makes the whole process of shooting more exciting. And I've found that the more involved you are in the creative process of photography while shooting, the better your end results will be. This $69 prime lens is a no-brainer and the best value I've seen in a prime lens. . It arrived in quality packaging, the quality of the lens is much better than I expected - solid metal, high quality finish, clean inside and out, all markings correct, aperture and focus rings work very smoothly. The lens mounts smoothly and looks fantastic on my X-T1 and is very light compared to the Fuji 18-55 f/2.8. The first test shots exceeded my expectations. Excellent color reproduction, center sharpness at f/1.8, creamy bokeh, but edge sharpness leaves something to be desired. f/1.4 Prime, I'm just blown away. I highly recommend this lens and look forward to using it for my fine art photography.
