Review on 🐾 DuraScoop® Premium Multicat Cat Litter Scoop - Solid Metal, Efficient Litter Box Tray Pan Sifter by Nicole Davis

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A near-perfect rating for a reason or two….

Another plastic shovel starts to break. I feel guilty about throwing out more plastic and need a more efficient scoop so I researched, tried and endorsed this Jumbo DuraScoop. I've narrowed it down to another metal scoop as well, but since I don't use either, I prefer these for the following reasons (DuraScoop is the orange handle in the photos): 1 - Ergonomic handle length to scoop curve. less strain on the wrist. It might not matter to some, but my cat likes to dig deep, so I have to "dig" deep and pull out really full shovels, so it matters. 2 - Ergonomic finger grooves on the handle are comfortable and easy to control. 3 - Large scoop speeds up cleaning. four . lump without falling back through the gap. 6 - Easy to rinse off. Saw these comments while researching: 1 - Too hard - It's metal sooooo.... In fact, it's 10 ounces versus 2 ounces of plastic. Despite being gigantic in size, it can handle a lot of dirt, making it difficult to use. I think the ergonomics mentioned above help with the weight. If you are too weight sensitive, going for the "large" size may not be the best choice. 2 - Too spicy - Hmmm, don't take that. Its rim is slightly thicker than a metal spatula. Now the corners are not rounded like some other metal shovels. I personally didn't find these designs a problem. Just the opposite. In addition to what was mentioned above about slipping into the litter, I've found that they help loosen the litter stuck to the bottom of the litter box. 3 - Slots Too Big/Too Small - Slots look the same as regular scoops. If a few shakes of a spoon per scoop bother you, look for a spoon with large slots or an oblong bowl. To me that would mean too many of these very small clumps would fall through and take longer to pinch off (which is made easier by the square corner). I figured that with a smooth metal surface, sticking would be rare. Look at the photos. You will notice that more marks will remain on the DuraScoop (orange pencil). However, I'm not sure if this is normal for this scoop or if it's due to the clumpy litter I use (a mix of regular and light Fresh Step with no dust). When I pick up a wet cotton ball, it sticks like any other spoon I've ever used. If someone designs a scoop that won't stick to wet litter residue, I'll be your customer forever. 😁
