I'm not a contractor so I don't use a tape measure every day. I just needed some inexpensive tape measures to take home, so $11 for two tape measures sounded good. The latch was loose on both straps as one reviewer wrote, but I only had to tighten the 3 rivets holding it to the strap. If you have a vise and a set of punches you should be able to do it. Put the center punch in a vise and use a regular punch and a hard hit of a hammer and it will be tightened. Before you do this, remember to press the catcher against the tape so it's more accurate.
