I like double sided tape.

I like double sided tape. If you need to install drywall on the ceiling, having the numbers on the back is very helpful. I also like that the fractions are written so I don't have to count the hyphens. You'll see right away if it's 3/4 or 7/8. I improved the locking function by making small grooves in the slider to make it less slippery. I found the original design a bit difficult to use with one hand as my thumb kept slipping when trying to unlock the slider.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Good but not great

Good quality product

I'm not a contractor so I don't use a tape measure every day. I just needed some inexpensive tape measures to take home, so $11 for two tape measures sounded good. The latch was loose on both straps as one reviewer wrote, but I only had to tighten the 3 rivets holding it to the strap. If you have a vise and a set of punches you should be able to do it. Put the center punch in a vise and use a regular punch and a hard hit of a hammer and it will be tightened. Before you do this, remember to…

Fragile, thin tape self-destructs

I fell in love with the return springs and detents on these 2 tape measures straight away. However, after just 15 minutes of use, the Autolock tape developed a crease that turned into a tear and became unusable. After examining the tape measure myself, I found that the thickness of the metal is only 1/2 the thickness of other tape measures I own. I've never had a tape measure that felt and acted like flimsy paper. These tapes have very low structural integrity and are therefore unusable in my…

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are nuances

Good for indoor use on measuring and marking tools

So I started out by really liking this one, but not as much anymore. Lots of functions aren't a problem as the button gets stuck and you have to press it onto the bottom of the tape measure to release it. They don't stand out for very long. I think the max is 6 feet. For carpentry work that involves building anything outdoors (barns, houses, concrete, etc.), don't take these. Measure everything after rain or snow and all you have is rust on your band as the coating peels off fairly easily…

  • Sturdy construction

The best roulette on the market! Do you have two?!?!

I was looking for a measuring tape with all the functions I need. Printed fractions, lower knuckle, top clasp, wide blade, metric, printed decimals, nylon coating, long handle, magnetic front, belt clip, back loop. The closest I got was the Milwaukee Magnetic Wide Blade. Milwaukee has no breaks, no metric, and the nylon coating does not extend the entire blade. This tape has a crease at the bottom, is also more compact, has all the features of a Milwaukee (except magnetic) plus fractions, all…

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Very high quality at a great price

This is a very well made product and fairly accurate. I am buying a set of 3 for 3 young grandchildren and the product has exceeded all expectations. The quality features include very easy-to-read calibrations. The bottom has SAE and metric calibration. There are 2 locking mechanisms. a quick hold button on the bottom (which I rarely find on more expensive roulettes) as well as the typical lock/hold mechanism on the front. Another quality feature is that the tip is attached with 3 rivets…

Cons
  • Quick Guide

Just install. and forget it or something like that

At first I thought the meaning of the little knob on the bottom of the tape measure was rather redundant. I've used dozens of tapes—digital, laser-coated, and old-school tapes that will cut your fingers if you wind the tape at full speed—and until this one came along, my favorite tape was Milwaukee Tape, just for them big numbers. and that the metal ruler on the underside has been exposed, allowing you to keep size easily without moving the lever which eventually fails due to wear and tear on…

Pros
  • PERFORMANCE - Easy to read sub-graphs, nub center marks every 16" and 19.2" - Makes framing work easier
Cons
  • Out of fashion
