This USB cable ended up damaging my Coolpix B500

This cable damaged my new $250 Coolpix. I lost my original cable after buying it new so I bought this one from Amazon. When plugged in this replacement cable went first into the HDMI port on my new CoolPix B500, it fit by a hair's breadth from the large side, I didn't feel unusual and pulled one of the edges of the camera's electronic wires off the rest. Just great! It's an expensive lesson. Tip: Spend $ for genuine parts. It's always cheaper in the end. I don't know how much the repair will cost, but like everything else, the repair will be close to a new purchase. I can't imagine Amazon even paying compensation for such expensive items. I feel sick. Never buy/use non-genuine replacement parts for anything, especially electronics. It's a risk that's no longer worth taking. LR ADDED 9/11/20 HDMI is the wrong term, well I'm just a beginner and sometimes not the sharpest tool. Anyway, I gave up and somehow it got removed. Unbelievable 3 years
