Review on Renewed ARRIS Surfboard SB8200-Rb DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem by Logan Collier

Update: A few days after installation I woke up one morning and found no network connection. rebooted the modem and it worked but decided to abandon this repair and try another model entirely. this will be sent back. It might be a fix because of that, but I'm not willing to spend more time if the other one works. -------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------- I gambled on a repair as I was in dire need of a modem (next day) and that was it .comcast upgraded its network and my "old" modem stopped working. thanks ComCast. even without prior notice. just "disconnected" (dhcp didn't work on their side). Called CC and gave them the MAC address of this device. crossed fingers; it wasn't "locked" and we were able to check it in! 1/2 hour later I was online again. 200MB down and 5MB up on one of their $60/month ISP plans. I didn't want to switch modems again and was hoping this 3.1 version would work. it does. Bay Area Comcast, fwiw.115 was under repair and I was able to get it the next day. deal with it. didn't want to rent a CC modem; definitely NOT during a pandemic! I admit that I bought several modems and they were all shipped the next day. If your network goes down and the "compatibility" is very unreliable (Comcast), you'll have to buy more just to make sure at least one of them works. sigh. This was the first of a series I opened up and tried to get it to work and it works. I've still avoided repair modems, but this one worked. it looked almost new and had not been abused. so it's a guardian as long as it keeps running during the testing period (i.e. a couple of weeks). If it works that long, it should be good in the long run. My last Arris modem lasted over 5 years and while it annoyed me that Comcast was forcing me to buy a new product I didn't need to buy, this one which is Docsis 3.1 should work for a while before things like this start again happen.
