They are different from most metric styli! Most probes you buy in the US that are listed in millimeters and inches are exact inches and approximate millimeters! They have exact values in millimeters and not in inches. It is much better to use these pressure gauges for engines that read in mm. I use them on my Honda CBR 600 F4i which defaults to metric specs and metric gasket sizes. Distances are converted to inches, but metric values are more accurate. Also, it's so tedious to calculate the gap difference in inches and then convert it to millimeters and subtract or add the size of the gasket already inside. I'm happy with them, they work very well and it's easy to get 0.01mm pitches with them!
