This is a beautiful and durable painted wood pepper mill that works well. It is located at the bottom of the grinder, making it easy to use and easy to keep clean. The only reason it didn't get a full five stars from me is that it doesn't offer a large grinding area. In other words, the dial on the bottom that lets you adjust the fineness/coarseness of the pepper ejected doesn't offer many options other than a medium grind. Personally, I like very coarsely ground pepper, which I just couldn't get from this mill. Those who prefer a truly powdered pepper may miss it as well. However, for the vast majority of kitchens and tables, it fits very well and seems strong enough to withstand years of grinding. Despite the limited grinding range, I would recommend this for cooking and/or suggest peppers as a side dish. It can also be a good housewarming gift, which is both beautiful and practical.
