Review on OLYMPUS M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm F2.8 Pro Lens: Ultimate Quality for Micro Four Thirds Cameras by Somsak Boonsri ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The purchase brought only positive emotions.

I bought it as a "whale", with an Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II camera (Power Kit with 12-40mm + battery grip + battery), so the price turned out to be more than pleasant, with really big savings. I liked it from the very first frames, and the convenience in shooting, and the issued image. Sharp with an open, well-kept backlight. Easy to focus on. I didn’t hope for a masterpiece bokeh, all the same 2.8 and zoom, but the picture is already so pleasant for such focal lengths. Immediately, together with the "carcass", I reflashed it via the Internet (an improvement in the work of the "stub" was announced) and registered it, having received an additional 6 months of warranty by 2 years. Generally satisfied. I plan to take another fast fix and fish-eye. I recommend! Lenses that do not fail when dropped from a tripod height onto a hard surface do not exist in nature!

Pros
  • Constructive. Ergonomics. Aperture sufficient for everyday tasks. Output image. Additional warranty, 6 months (when registering on the site). The presence of a soft cover of good quality, with a hard bottom. Comfortable and high quality covers, one of the best. Original autofocus switch (ring shift). Weighty, but not heavy, will not burden the photographer's bag.
Cons
  • From metal rings, most likely, fingers will freeze in winter, but elastic bands will not stretch, due to their absence. ))) Modest but nice bokeh.
