The right product for me, there were no problems.

Personally, I am completely satisfied with the lens. For a long time I decided whether to buy it "for home, family and landscapes" I decided and did not regret it. Photos look great right out of the camera, I forgot what Photoshop is. I am attaching some unedited photos. I took a used one from the distribution for 38,000 as a staff member for the Lumix GX9. It is definitely worth this money, but the price in the official store of 70,000 is a clear overkill. You can read my more detailed story…

Pros
  • There is color and light. The picture looks "expensive", unlike budget zooms. Sharp from 2.8 at any focal length, 20 megapixels renders for a sweet soul. High-quality materials, the lens is pleasant to hold in hands. They did not save on the hood and lid either. All-weather - it was not possible to test it in practice, but this is definitely a plus. Fast and accurate autofocus. At 40 mm, it is quite tolerable for an m4 / 3 zoom, it washes the background in portraits, although by definition it is not capable of strong bokeh. The presence of an additional functional button. Mechanical manual focus - simple and straightforward.
Cons
  • Big and heavy for a micro. It is clearly designed for use with top-end carcasses, comparable in size and weight to DSLRs. The Panasonic GX9 (not the lightest device) noticeably "pecks" forward. Expensive.

A good product, but having its own defects.

I didn’t drop it and pah-pah I’m not going to drop it. Therefore, I can not say anything about shock resistance. There was no native hood with a lens (I took it from my hands). Bought the hood on eBay. I took a non-native, but quite normal and 3 times cheaper. Got pros: 1. Image quality. Before that, M. Zuiko used 14-42 and 12-50. 14-42 is quite the initial level. 12-50 is much better. But 12-40 just surprised. However, it is natural for this class of optics. 2. Excellent moisture protection…

I am satisfied, the purchase is quite successful.

The lens is primarily reportage, you don’t have to expect artistry and bokeh from it. The disease of everyone who got down from the FF kenon is to blur the backdrop into the trash. Don't expect this here. For everything else there are fixes. Different pros: - metal case - zoom with convenient focal lengths (in equivalent FF = 24-80) - convenient switching to manual focus mode - hood with strong fixation - waterproof lens Cons below: - for those who switch from FF, there will be torment and pain

A good product at a good price, I advise you to try it.

I actively use it both in travel and in everyday shooting. Be prepared for the fact that the lens is very flimsy and fragile, which does not correspond to the PRO marking. When falling from a tripod along with the camera, the mount could not stand it and broke off. It could still be forgiven. But after the repair, the 2nd misfortune happened almost immediately. The lens was in the bag. In the crowd, the bags were hit with something (and not so hard that I immediately noticed). When I took out…

Pros
  • - Good optical performance - Dust and vag resistance - The weight
Cons
  • Pretty fragile for the money.

Everything in the product suited me, the price is generally perfect.

I think this lens was originally developed for the flagships of the Olympus E-M1 and E-M5 system cameras. Where there is a more or less decent grip and the ability to "build up" this grip by adding. accessories. Also, these cameras, like the lens, have dust and moisture protection. Returning to the lens itself, we can say so - I bought it and forgot it. In terms of putting him alone on camera, he will be able to satisfy almost everyone. Fast and sharp. It turns out quite a beautiful picture…

Pros
  • Excellent dust / moisture resistant universal lens with a constant aperture of 1: 2.8. Fast autofocus, manual focus capability. Unparalleled quality of materials, just 5 points. Dimensions.
Cons
  • Perhaps the price, although there are simply no analogues.

The quality is top notch and I recommend the product for purchase.

The picture is luxurious. Sharp over the entire area, fast, with natural colors (if you set the bb correctly, or even set it to auto), aperture, excellent range of focal lengths. It is very reliable to the touch (I did not check for impact resistance :). The zoom ring is tight for me, but it's a matter of habit. Bottom line: a universal pro zoom for all occasions. Pair it with a 25mm prime at f/1.2 or f/1.4 and you'll have a set of lenses for life. For what money Olympus breaks, you can…

Pros
  • Luxurious lens. With it, the "masterpiece" button appears on the camera.
Cons
  • Big and heavy for m4/3, which is inevitable with such characteristics. Expensive.

Of course, if, as a certain comrade wrote here, throwing his carcass from a tripod and kicking passers-by with it, then it is unlikely that any piece of iron will survive. The same lens, on the contrary, stands out for its impressiveness and reliability compared to other plastic ones. I used it on trips around Europe, periodically changing the UV filter and polarization. If in the canon system there is a hit of 24-70, then in the Olympus it is this 12-40.

Pros
  • After Canon's optics, this Olympus is not so small, it's quite a man's toy that looks decent on the device.
Cons
  • No.

Excellent product, the best quality.

I needed a white lens to replace the whale one that comes with the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II, I chose it for videography, I understood that ideally I need to buy 3-5 lenses for each situation, but since I’m new to this business, and I don’t have such a budget to buy so many lenses, settled on 12-40mm. What made me very happy is the pro series, the material is iron, it’s nice to hold, and of course the protection against dust and moisture which the carcass itself has, so far there are no…

Pros
  • versatility, dust and moisture protection, ergonomics
Cons
  • no

I didnt see good quality, solid disadvantages.

photo-video quality is directly proportional to the generation of the matrix and its size. 4/3 hit the diffraction limit. if you clamp above 5.6, the resolution will drop at 20mp. I won’t assure you, but the plans of the Olympus will either be sold to Sony so that it buys out patents for the stub or release its own ff don’t be fooled by fast focusing, because you’re not actually shooting at 2,8 but at 5,6 - it’s much easier to get a focus spot more. it's not 1.2 85L 0.95 autofocus is not…

Pros
  • range comfortable
Cons
  • 1) 12-40 is an analogue of 24-80. in optics 24 is difficult to do so the correct optics should have a range of 28-70. maybe it's not as convenient as 24-80, but there will be no horse distortion. 2) and horse distortion. just look at photAmazon with camera correction turned off. It will definitely show up in the video. but if you are not an esthete, then it will do. 3) banal deception of the consumer. the fact is that 12-40 2.8 is presented as top-end optics. But the laws of physics are for everyone. 4/3 loses 2 stops of light f4.0 on ff = 2.8 on crop = 2.0 on 4/3 turns out to be misleading. actually equated the price of optics to 24-70 2,8 from nikon-canon, and it has a long history and prototypes but the most deception is that 2,8 from 4/3 is actually a zoom from 5,6 from ff would you buy a mediocre lens for a lot of money?

The purchase brought only positive emotions.

I bought it as a "whale", with an Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II camera (Power Kit with 12-40mm + battery grip + battery), so the price turned out to be more than pleasant, with really big savings. I liked it from the very first frames, and the convenience in shooting, and the issued image. Sharp with an open, well-kept backlight. Easy to focus on. I didn’t hope for a masterpiece bokeh, all the same 2.8 and zoom, but the picture is already so pleasant for such focal lengths. Immediately, together…

Pros
  • Constructive. Ergonomics. Aperture sufficient for everyday tasks. Output image. Additional warranty, 6 months (when registering on the site). The presence of a soft cover of good quality, with a hard bottom. Comfortable and high quality covers, one of the best. Original autofocus switch (ring shift). Weighty, but not heavy, will not burden the photographer's bag.
Cons
  • From metal rings, most likely, fingers will freeze in winter, but elastic bands will not stretch, due to their absence. ))) Modest but nice bokeh.

I cant say that I was completely satisfied with the product.

A month after the purchase in the official store, the zoom ring broke. At the expense of build quality - I was recently going to shoot, the photo in the bag was lying on the table, the child dropped it. The lens inside fell all over, gave it to a friend for repair, he took it apart - there are plastic lenses!, The factory parts were customized with washers, where 2 stands, where 3, where one is thick. China is China! And this is for such money!

Pros
  • Cutting
Cons
  • Build quality. Price. A tight zoom ring, you can’t quickly change the focal length in a reportage.
