Review on OLYMPUS M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm F2.8 Pro Lens: Ultimate Quality for Micro Four Thirds Cameras by Amphaiphit Jongkol ᠌

A good product, but having its own defects.

I didn’t drop it and pah-pah I’m not going to drop it. Therefore, I can not say anything about shock resistance. There was no native hood with a lens (I took it from my hands). Bought the hood on eBay. I took a non-native, but quite normal and 3 times cheaper. Got pros: 1. Image quality. Before that, M. Zuiko used 14-42 and 12-50. 14-42 is quite the initial level. 12-50 is much better. But 12-40 just surprised. However, it is natural for this class of optics. 2. Excellent moisture protection. Whole in the woods in almost pouring rain. Of course, the camera was not always in operation. If I didn't take it off, I hid it in my bag. But I got wet for more than half the day. Before putting it in the bag, I wiped the camera and lens with a dry cloth. And nothing, everything works! 3. Focusing speed, distortion, etc. are quite satisfactory. I don't particularly bother with this. And a lot depends on the camera. From personal experience, the Olympus OM-D EM-1 is noticeably faster in focus than the EM-5. Now I am mastering EM-1 mark II. There's even more speed. Got cons: Weight and dimensions. I was ready for this. Still, Pro class and high aperture.
