I have received several different StarTech USB 3.0 hubs with extra charging ports and they all work great. However, this one works a little strangely. I bought it for my Raspberry Pi 3 and use it both as a Pi power source (via the charging port) and as a powered hub. The Pi gets good performance and everything works there. My bus-powered USB hard drive works fine in a hub, and the hub means the Pi doesn't use electricity to power the drive. So far, so good. Both of my USB peripherals (Steel series mouse and regular keyboard) are not working through the hub. They light up for a second, then the port goes out. Both work directly from the Pi. I haven't sued the Pi very often and haven't used it with any other hub, but I can't figure out why it's not working. I've tried it on my PC (where I use a similar but larger hub) and it works fine. 4 stars for now as I can't pinpoint the underlying issue with the Pi. It works great with my PC. The assembly is quite cheap but nothing unexpected depending on the price you pay. The power supply is a bit large, but that's not uncommon for powered USB hubs.
