Poor evaluation due to production-related quality control. During manufacture, the coating/paint treatment applied to the hinges flowed into the threaded hole where the mounting screw must be inserted. This excess hard coating in this hole covered the threads and made it impossible to insert the screw and therefore not install the seat without the significant investment of time drilling the hole with a set of taps which not everyone will have on hand. 1 more trip to the hardware store and extra money for the tools needed to fix the seat and complete the installation same day. I didn't try to send it back to the seller so I don't know how they would solve the problem. The change recommended by the manufacturer is to plug these holes when you cover the hinges, or clean the threads afterwards to eliminate this potential. Defect. Seat works fine after fixing this installation issue.
