Review on High-Performance Exhaust Gasket by Mr. Gasket: Engineered Material by Joshua Turner

I have not had this material long enough to judge its actual performance. Everything seems to have healed, but with time. - I can not say. What I want to do here is give advice. This material is not easily molded into shape, at least not into smaller o-ring shapes, because the metal mesh wedged into it is so much stronger than the relatively flaky composite that the composite falls apart before you can cut the mesh. I found a very good method that works. I used an off-the-shelf electronic tool to cut various shapes into the electronic case and lids. He just "bites off" pieces. I also suspect that an abrasive tip, perhaps a diamond tip in a rotary tool, might work. Several of my attempts with a shovel, milling machine or scissors didn't work, they ruined the material. I tried a cold chisel and ruined the piece as well. An abrasion that doesn't snag is better, or wire cutters, which are sort of an anvil to support it and snap off a piece seemed to work best. I had no problem smoothing the outside edges of a piece of o-ring on a bench grinder as long as I kept the edge parallel to the wheel's rotation. Used from the side, it tended to chip the composite. This stuff certainly saved my day as the pad I needed wasn't available and would have cost a lot more anyway.
